To make things easier on both you and your pet, we provide everything you need to make that first visit smooth and stress-free.

What to Expect at the Pet Hospital

Knowing what to expect when you walk through the door will help ease you into our service. At Solomons Veterinary Medical Center, our veterinarians offer high-quality care as well as great customer service for Solomons, Lusby, Broomes Island, Dowell, Port Republic, Prince Frederick, St. Leonard, St. Mary's, and California, MD. Your first visit with us will include a comprehensive exam as part of the annual check-up. We investigate your pet’s head, body, tail and cavities looking for signs of injury or disease. We will discuss your pet’s history with you and answer any care questions.

Our veterinary staff will explain the services we offer that might benefit your pet during that first visit. For example, tooth and gum brushing is a common recommendation because pets have the same dental needs as humans. We might suggest microchipping to help keep your pet safe. We will talk about nutrition, wellness care, spay and neutering, and vaccinations, too.

What to Bring to Your First Appointment

Our goal is to provide you and your furry friend the best care possible, but we need your help. Bring any medical history you have available with you including the name and number of past veterinarians. This way we contact them to get a full history on your pet.

It is a good idea to keep a medical diary for your pet, as well. Write down any procedures your pet as undergone in the past, a record of vaccinations and notes about behavior. How regular is your pet and have you noticed any unusual activity or behavior changes, for example. Keep a record of the food you use, too, so we can help you manage diet and nutrition. The more information you record, the better we can understand your pet.

Download the forms needed for your appointment in advance and fill them out at your leisure. This will speed up your visit and allow you to spend time soothing your nervous pet. Take a minute to read through the payment options available at our clinic, too. We can answer questions for you about services like CareCredit and pet insurance.

With our state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment, an in-house laboratory and well-stocked pharmacy, the Solomons Veterinary Medical Center is a full-service clinic designed to meet all your pet care needs.

It all starts with that first appointment. Give us a call at (410) 326-4300 to make an appointment and learn about all the specials we offer to new patients. You can also go online and request an appointment that fits into your busy schedule.
