May is Pet Cancer Awareness Month
May 1, 2024

Do you know how to spot the first signs of cancer in your dog or cat? During Pet Cancer Awareness Month, we want to help you understand the risks, symptoms, and treatments available for cancer in dogs and cats. Through awareness and early detection, our team can help you proactively care for your pet and potentially save their life.

Know the Signs

There are many different types of cancer in dogs and cats, and each one has its own set of symptoms. If you notice any of the following symptoms in your pet, it’s time to schedule an  appointment with your veterinarian:

  • Lumps on or under the skin
  • Frequent cough
  • Lethargy
  • Sudden weight loss
  • Loss of appetite
  • Repeated vomiting/diarrhea
  • Swollen lymph nodes
  • Blood in stool or urine

Reminder: These symptoms are present in other diseases besides cancer, so it’s important to have your pet checked by your veterinarian for an accurate diagnosis.
